Children at church

History

The group of worshipers that formed the heart of Garwood Presbyterian Church began gathering in 1897, before the town itself was even established.  Led by its first Pastor, the aptly named Reverend Love, the church laid its cornerstone on Spruce Ave in 1905.  The church was completed a year later.  We were known as the Chapel at Garwood and with the help of Cranford Presbyterian Church, started Sunday School programs for the children of this budding congregation.

Prayer has always been the backbone of our church, and we continue to have many dedicated prayer warriors.  It would be impossible to list all of the healing, miracles, provisions, salvations, and answers that God has provided through the years, but we can honestly say that the world is significantly changed because of the work of Christ through our church.
